Safety is key to an enjoyable day on the bike so we have some policies to keep things as safe as we can.

Alcohol

HOG has a zero alcohol policy so if you feel you may be suffering from the night before please wait till the next Rideout to join us. We often stop at Pubs for food and coffee and riders and guests are asked to not consume alcohol at any time before or during the Rideout. You will be asked to leave the group if you consume alcohol on a Rideout.

Overtaking

We all ride at different speeds but during a Rideout, we do not allow overtaking other riders in the group as it can cause an accident, if you want to change position in the group no problem simply wait until the next official stop and reposition yourself closer to the front or towards the back of the group.

First Rideout

It can be hard to know what to do on the first day and it can take a little time to get comfortable and relax, new riders will often stay at the back of the group to get an understanding of how our group riding system works. It’s pretty easy and once you see it in action you will pick it up quickly.

Group Formation

We will have a Road Captain and Sweeper on every Ridout the Road Captain leads the Rideout and determines the speed of the Rideout. At no point are riders allowed to go in front of the Road Captain. The sweeper goes to the back of the group and makes sure no one is left behind. The sweeper will be pointed out during the riders briefing as well as the plan for the day and the system we are using on the day.
